Wisdom in Handling Situations
Key Text: “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV)
Life is not measured by the number of situations you face but by how wisely you respond to them. Anyone can react, but it takes wisdom to respond in a way that honours God and produces peace. Abigail demonstrated this when she calmly intervened before David made a terrible decision in anger. Her wisdom turned a potential tragedy into a testimony of God’s mercy.
Every day presents opportunities to choose wisdom over impulse. A harsh reply can destroy a friendship, while a gentle answer can restore one. Many problems become bigger simply because people allow emotions to speak before wisdom has a chance. Have you noticed that toothpaste and angry words have something in common? Once they come out, getting them back in is almost impossible!
Jesus consistently handled difficult situations with remarkable wisdom. Whether He was questioned by religious leaders or surrounded by people looking for faults, He never allowed pressure to control His responses. Divine wisdom teaches us that not every battle deserves our energy and not every opinion deserves our attention. Sometimes the wisest response is to speak with grace, and sometimes it is simply to remain silent.
Prayer and Confession
Father, fill me with the wisdom to respond rightly in every situation I face. Help me to control my words, emotions, and actions so that they reflect the character of Christ. I declare that I will not be ruled by anger, fear, or pressure. The wisdom of God guides my responses, and I bring peace, clarity, and godly solutions wherever I go, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Reflection
Think about a recent situation where you reacted emotionally. How could God’s wisdom have changed your response, and what will you do differently the next time?
