THERE IS SOMETHING EXCITING ABOUT BELONGING TO CHRIST

Key Text: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

One of the most exciting things about being a believer is that Christianity is not simply about becoming a better version of yourself. It is about becoming a new creation in Christ, with a new identity, a new nature and a new relationship with God. God did not simply take the old you, give you a little spiritual makeover, put some church clothes on you and say, “Let us manage this one.” He made you new, and that means your past no longer has the final say about who you are.

Think about the excitement of discovering that you have access to something valuable that you never knew you had. Imagine carrying a bank card for months and suddenly discovering there is a large amount of money in the account; you would probably check the balance several times just to make sure the app was not playing games with you! Sadly, many believers live like people who have received a wonderful inheritance but have never opened the letter explaining what belongs to them. The Christian life becomes more exciting when you begin discovering who you are, what you have and what you can do because you belong to Christ.

Following Jesus is therefore not supposed to be a boring religious routine where you attend church, say “Amen,” go home and repeat everything next Sunday. There is an adventure in walking with God because every day gives you opportunities to trust Him, learn His Word, obey His instructions and experience His faithfulness. Sometimes the adventure is an answered prayer, while other times it is learning patience when the answer seems to be taking its sweet time. Whatever season you are in, you are not walking through it alone because Christ is with you.

Prayers and Confession
Father, thank You for making me a new creation in Christ. I receive the joy and privilege of belonging to You, and I refuse to allow my past, failures or people’s opinions to define me. I declare that I have a new identity in Christ, and I will continually discover and enjoy the reality of this new life. Amen.

If you truly understood everything that became available to you when you came to Christ, what would change about the way you see yourself and live every day?
