MORE THAN ENOUGH IS NOT JUST FOR YOU
Key Text: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” — 2 Corinthians 9:8
God’s idea of abundance is bigger than simply having enough things for yourself. Paul tells the Corinthian believers that God gives grace so that they can have sufficiency and abound unto every good work. In other words, God’s provision is not designed to make us comfortable consumers only; it is also designed to make us effective distributors. When God puts more in your hands, He is often thinking about who else can be blessed through you. Overflow becomes meaningful when what fills your cup eventually reaches someone else’s cup.
Think about Abraham. God told him, “I will bless thee… and thou shalt be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2). Notice the progression: blessed, then blessing. The blessing was not supposed to terminate with Abraham. Joseph also experienced this principle in Egypt. God elevated him to a position where his wisdom and administration preserved not only his own life but the lives of an entire region during famine. Sometimes God increases you because there is a problem around you that your increase is meant to help solve.
This changes the way we should pray about prosperity and increase. Instead of only asking, “God, what can I get?” we should also ask, “God, what can flow through me?” Your knowledge can become someone’s breakthrough, your money can support a kingdom assignment, your home can become a place of encouragement, your influence can open a door for someone, and your testimony can give hope to someone who is struggling. A river is valuable because it does not keep its water to itself. If everything God gives you stops with you, it may be abundance, but it is not yet overflow.
Prayers and Confession
Father, make me a channel through which Your goodness can reach others. Bless me with sufficient grace and resources, not merely for personal comfort, but so that I can participate in good works and become a blessing to people around me. Deliver me from selfishness, fear, and the mentality of scarcity. Give me wisdom to recognise opportunities to give, serve, encourage, support, teach, and lift others. I declare that what You place in my hands will not terminate with me; by Your grace, it will become a blessing to many. Amen.
