A Worthy Cause 2
Matthew 26:39 NIV
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
An important question that you should always ask yourself is ” to what end is my suffering?” You should be deliberate about knowing what you stand to gain from your sufferings in life. Remember, suffering is inevitable in life. Whether your sufferings and pains in life will worth it or not will be determined by your choices. Not deliberately choosing is a choice on its own that also comes with its own suffering. Many people run in life, go through pains in a bid to accomplish there desires. The big question is, how worthy is that cause that you are willing to suffer for. Jesus made a choice, he chose to set humanity free from the bondage of sin and bring us eternal life, a suffering that comes with an eternal gain.
Christian ministry involves bringing men into the knowledge of what God has done for humanity through Christ. The honest truth is, fulfilling this ministry effectively sure comes with pains spanning from enduring persecution of all sort, having to sacrifice alot in a bid to fulfilling ministry, giving up on legitimate desires, having to give yourself to much prayers and fasting in the midst of inconveniences and tiredness, and many others. The joy of this kind of sufferings is just that we know they are to an expected end; seeing men being set free from the shackles of darkness, seeing men walk in the reality of who God has made them to be- gains that are eternal.
Dearly beloved,there is no cause above that of fulfilling the Christian ministry, for it alone comes with an eternal gain. What cause are you suffering for? What cause are you willing to suffer for? You have choices to make. Anything you do that doesn’t revolve round, showcase and project true Christian ministry is a total waste of time. Any pain that comes from such might bring a temporal gain but sure not an eternal gain that lasts forever.
How worthy is the cause you are willing to suffer for? It’s a daily decision. Make your choices.
