The Pleasing Sacrifice
Psalms 40:6
“Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required”.
After the fall of man in the garden of Eden, man lost his place and fellowship with God, and ever since then, series of sacrifices was enacted which lies on the blood of animals. God performed the very first sacrifice (blood shed) when he covered mans nakedness by the skin of animal in the garden in Eden (Gen 3:21). From the law unto the prophets, sacrifices of animals had been made to atone for man’s sins on a regular basis.
David speaking prophetically says that the Lord is not pleased with animal sacrifices and offering being offered. Since it was impossible that the blood of bull and goats should take away sin, Christ coming to the world made arrangement for a better sacrifice. His body was prepared and offered as an offering for sin and this he did once for all time (Heb 10:5-10).
For as many who believed in the pleasing sacrifice of Christ is freed from all forms of condemnation arising from sin nature. No other sacrifice is needed to make your account right with God.
