Devotional Reading: “After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” (Genesis 15:1 KJV)

As a compass is to a geographer so is the word of God to every believer. To navigate life effortlessly and without blind struggle, it’s important to take directions from the Lord. The Old Testament believers wouldn’t engage in anything unless and until they inquire from the Lord.

From the opening passage, we saw how the word of the Lord came to Abram; via it, he was encouraged and he received wonderful promises. Reading through the entire chapter, we discovered how the Lord spoke to Abram times without number, and that forms the basis at which he took decisions and knows what to expect in his life.

As Christians, we are so eager to profess our “New Creation Realities,” but of a truth, as scriptures says that those who are led by the spirit of God are the sons of God, can we boldly declare that every of our choices are inspired by God. It’s pretty simple to say yes, but look out how many mistakes you have made in the past, couldn’t it have been averted if only you heard God speak to you? Glory to God, he makes all things work for our good.

There’s however a vast difference between how God speaks to the fathers of old and how he does to us now. No guidance of God will ever contradict the truth of God’s written word. The level of the word you have in your spirit determines the level and accuracy at which God speaks to you. It’s a very risky expectation, wanting to hear God speak when we refuse to study God’s word. Stick to the word and you will come back with testimonies.

Prayer and Confession
I am being led by the word of God and I take instructions from Him every moment.
