Living Like Jesus

Written by Emmanuel Kayode

Devotional Reading: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:3-5 NIV

Very many of the developing countries does things that seems out of place, sometimes absurd just because laws and order aren’t followed to the letter. Taking Nigeria for an instance, as every election approaches, the politicians begin to do so many unimaginable stuff, not because of their love for the citizens, but for their personal interest; to be (re)elected into office.

Many a time also, the believer does some things whether consciously or not which the aim is not for the love of brethren or the propagation of God’s kingdom but for personal gain. Believers are not expected to live in such manner. Apostle Paul admonishes the church at Corinth to imitate him as he imitates Christ. One of such way is to do things not for personal interest. Christ was the only begotten of the Father, but in his love, He died so, that many will become fellow-heirs and sons of God the father.

What informs your choice of career, choice of a partner, where you live and so on, do you have the interest of others at heart? Like Jesus, will you think about others’ affairs, be interested in what they are doing and offer help not expecting any reward thereafter?

Prayer and Confession
I am created in the image of God and I have His nature in me. I look unto Him and I am conforming into His will.
