Walk in Worship

Devotional Reading: Then he explained his plan and appointed men to march in front of the army and praise the Lord for his holy power by singing: “Praise the Lord! His love never ends.” 2 Chronicles 20:21 CEV

Worship doesn’t sound like a strategy that makes you win a battle, does it? After preparing our hearts by getting heaven’s perspective, standing firm in our position, we are ready to see some action and make progress.

What do we need to make progress? We need to walk in worship. When Israel was under attack from a great army formed by three different nations, Jehoshaphat stood up and said, “We are going to walk in worship.”

Even if you know very little about military battles, it doesn’t seem like you should put the musicians at the front. It just doesn’t seem right. Sending everybody with knives and swords to go to the back of the line, and asking those with trumpets, and a tenor, to lead in the front doesn’t seem like the right way to do battle, but that is what is happening here. Why? Because the battle belongs to the Lord. When the battle belongs to the Lord, the praise belongs to Him; He will be exalted.

It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do anything; it means that you can praise the Lord even if you are in trouble. Your praise can remind you, whatever the circumstances, that there is someone bigger than you who is in charge of everything.

You can sing praise even around the hospital bed. You can worship even in the places where it hurts. At painful times in life, one of the greatest things you can do is find that song that blesses you, listen to it, and get a fresh perspective. There is something powerful about that worship.

Your worship stirs up faith from the inside of you and makes you see the miracles around you.

Sing a song of worship wherever you are and praise Him from deep within you.
