Psalm 56

Devotional Reading: “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” – Psalm 56:3 KJV

Psalms 56 is one of the Psalms of David. To think that this Psalm was written by David, brings us to certain conclusions already. For he wrote the Psalm after he had killed Lions and Bears; and fought and defeated Goliath the giant, yet he was afraid.

We are tempted to ask, should a man like David ever be afraid? Well, the truth is that someway, somehow, we all get to points in life when we are afraid…of so many things. Unforeseen circumstances, consequences of wrong choices, even the thought that our calculated risks will turn out well, can make us afraid.

The truth is that fear visits everyone… but its visiting hour varies from person to person. So what do we do when fear visits? We must keep it at the door.

How do we do this? By doing what David did. By trusting, not in ourselves, or even in past victories, but in God. And if you ever recall your past victories over fear, let it be this way:

“The God who came through then, will come through again.”

Prayer and Confession
Father, I receive grace trust in You always.
