Show Kindness
By Kayode Emmanuel
Devotional Reading: “Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another.” Zech. 7:9 ESV
Every time there’s affliction in the life of the believer, regardless of its nature or what the cause is; the believer must never lose consciousness of the mission of the enemy: to steal, kill and destroy. One of the things the enemy desires to steal in the life of a believer is the kingdom lifestyle that’s supposed to ooze out of the one who carries God on the inside. Hence, this is the devil’s agenda in bringing challenges our way.
Our anchor text is God’s message to the judges of God’s people; the priests. While they were in captivity, they had time to fast and mourn as occasion demands. Even while they were feasting, it was all for themselves (God wasn’t the center of it all). However, the word of the Lord came to them, regardless of all their religiosity and legal sacrifices, outward abstinence and humiliations, they must render true judgement, be kind and merciful to one another.
So also, you are a royal priesthood, a holy nation and king unto the service of God our Father (1Pet. 2:9, Rev. 1:6). In all you do, regardless of the situation you find yourself; whether in want of food, raiment, or in whatsoever distress, whether of the body or mind; seek to execute true judgement, show mercy and compassion to everyone that come your way. Religious exercises that exempt justice, mercy and faith is a waste of existence, take heed!
Prayer and Confession
I am a child of God, I am kind to everyone that comes my way, whether they are deserving of it or not.
