Kingdom Lifestyle; Forgive

Devotional Reading: “Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” Colossians 3:13

There is a common saying and belief about prayer which is nothing but the truth, it goes thus; “we pray for as long as we live.” Scripture ask we pray without ceasing. This is to say prayer is an important aspect of the Christian life and cannot be overemphasized. However, our text reveals another important aspect of the human life and importantly for the believer.

Forgiving one another is a kingdom lifestyle that cannot be done with. The text admonishes us to be ready to forgive, which implies “to continue to forgive,” this is to say it isn’t a onetime event as we will always have reasons to forgive others; even fellow believers as we relate with them on a daily basis and vice versa.

Accepting Christ into one’s life is also referred to as having redemption and forgiveness purchased by Christ blood. This is to say, every believer has into his account eternal forgiveness and will never come into condemnation (Col. 1:14, 2:13, Rom. 8:1).

Hence, to whom much is given, much is expected. Inasmuch as Christ has forgiven you, it becomes nonnegotiable for you to forgive everyone and anyone who hurt you, regardless of the offense(s) involved. Un-forgiveness should not be said about you. In fact, inability to forgive people is a wake-up call for you to examine yourself if truly you have the life of God and you are growing spiritually.

Prayer and Confession
I am eternally forgiven by the Lord through the blood of Jesus Christ. Hence, I forgive everyone who offends me regardless of the hurt and pain. Amen
