The Reward of Waiting

Devotional Reading: I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord. Psalms 40:1-3 NKJV

God never allows His children to wait in vain. David said, “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry.” Notice that his waiting produced results: deliverance, stability, and a new song. Waiting may be painful, but it never ends empty.

The reward of waiting is not only the answer you receive but also the person you become in the process. While you are waiting, God is shaping your faith, sharpening your discernment, and stretching your patience. At the end, you are not just blessed with an answer, you are also transformed into someone who can carry greater responsibility.

When God finally answers, the testimony is sweeter because of the journey. Nobody values freedom like someone who has been chained. Nobody values healing like someone who has battled sickness. The process of waiting increases the weight of gratitude when the promise comes.

So, the reward of waiting is double: you get the blessing and you also get the maturity that makes the blessing last. Waiting may take you through tears, but it will always end with a testimony that glorifies God.

Prayer and Confession
Lord, I believe that my waiting will produce results. I thank You for the reward of character, maturity, and testimony that comes with trusting You. Amen!
