The Cross – The Doorway to Intimacy with God

Devotional Reading: But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. —Ephesians 2:13 (NIV)

The cross didn’t just forgive our sins; it tore down the wall that stood between us and God. Before Jesus died, only a select few could come close to God’s presence. But the moment He gave up His life, the veil in the temple tore in two. That wasn’t just a physical curtain—it represented the separation between God and man. Now, because of the cross, every believer can come boldly into God’s presence.

It’s easy to think that closeness with God is reserved for “super spiritual” people—pastors, leaders, or people who seem to have it all together. But the cross makes intimacy available to everyone. No matter your past or your struggles, you’ve been invited into a real relationship with your Father in heaven.

The beauty of this truth is that you don’t need a middleman to talk to God. You don’t need to be perfect to be accepted. Through the cross, Jesus made it possible for you to be seen, heard, loved, and welcomed into God’s presence—just as you are.

This kind of intimacy brings healing. It brings peace. It’s not about religion or rules—it’s about connection. Every prayer you pray, every time you open your heart to God, He listens. And it’s all because of what Jesus did at the cross.

God is not distant. He’s right there with open arms, ready to receive you, love you, and walk with you through anything you face.

Prayer and Confession
Father, thank You for tearing down every barrier between us through the cross. Thank You that I can come boldly into Your presence. Help me to draw near to You, not just in church, but every day, in every moment. Amen!
