Serve One Another in Love

Written by Tosin Lawal

Galatians 5:13 NIV

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

As believers, we have been called into freedom and we have responded to that call. God’s word affirmed this in Romans 8:1-2 that the law of the spirit of life has made us free from the law of sin an death, hence there is no condemnation whatsoever for us with God. Do you know the implication of that? It means You are forever accepted with God, He is forever pleased with you. There would never be a time you will receive condemnation from God either in this life or the one to come. Hallelujah.

But you see, there is every tendency that we would be tempted on this earth to use our freedom to indulge in the flesh, that is indulging in sinful acts due to a misplacement of priority. Hence the Holy spirit through the Apostle Paul reminded and exhorted  us on how to rightly use our freedom. Rightly using our freedom in Christ means serving one another humbly in love. We are not serving so God can love us the more or so He wouldn’t condemn us. No, we are serving one another because serving one another in love  is walking in the spirit.
Beloved, to serve one another in love is to show love in every way toward fellow men. This ultimately is walking in the spirit.

Everyone deserves to be loved even though they might seemingly not deserve it. Remember that Christ died for humanity while we were sinners, at a time when we least deserved His love.  This is true service. So give yourself to serving by walking in love towards all men, not just in words but in deeds, for this is pleasing unto the Lord.

CONFESSION

I give myself to serving,
I walk in love toward all men for this is my walk in the spirit.
