The Gospel

Written by Tosin Lawal

Romans 1:16 KJV

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. The gospel being the power of God unto salvation means that is the only way through which God extends the gift of salvation to all men that will place their faith in it. There is no other way for men to be saved apart from the gospel. Salvation is God’s will for all men. (See 1 Tim. 2:3-4). Salvation is God’s big plan for us all.  It’s a state whereby men are being delivered totally from sin through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, thus obtaining eternal life. In this salvation, you get access to the free gift of righteousness, sanctification, ministry of angels and a lot of goodies that you couldn’t have imagined all by yourself. It’s no wonder the writer of the book of Hebrews in Heb. 2:3 called it “So great Salvation.”

The word ‘Gospel’ is actually translated from the Greek word “euaggelion” which means the proclamation of the grace of God manifest and pledged in Christ. It could also mean “the glad tidings of salvation through Christ.”  Some do refer to the gospel as “too good to be true news” in the sense that it proclaim a news that’s unimaginable to the natural sense. In a nutshell, the gospel proclaims how God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has come to eternally justify and declare righteous a sinner who has placed his faith in what Christ has done. To place his faith is to believe in what Christ accomplished through his death and resurrection.

Dearly beloved, God is rich in mercy and wants men to freely receive of the free gift of salvation He offers. Salvation is for all men including you.  He is a God that does things only Him can do. God has done and accomplished through Christ what no man could do and accomplish. Salvation can only be obtain through believing in the gospel message. God wants you to be assured of your salvation. Your faith in the gospel message has brought this so great salvation unto you. Your faith did it, nothing else. You should be full of thanksgiving and praise for this that you have  received from God.

CONFESSION

I am saved and have unlimited access to all the benefits of the salvation I have received because of my faith in the gospel.
