The Lord Is My Shepherd

Devotional Reading: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1

This verse is so common that even unbelievers can recite it at the slightest opportunity. Don’t get so familiar that you miss out on the efficacy of this. It carries power!

Jesus is our Lord and shepherd, as we call him that, do we know what it means for him to shepherd us and even his duties and responsibilities as a shepherd?

A shepherd provides for his sheep, he protects, instructs etc the sheep are wholly dependent on the shepherd and he leads them in the way they should go. He also corrects, rebukes and showers them with love immeasurable.

Can you let him be all of the above mentioned for you? We cannot limit the scripture to certain areas of our lives like career and finance, we must be ready to allow it in all ramifications. God being our shepherd is all encompassing which informs total dependence on him. Shalom!
