Devotional Reading: Hebrews 11:26 EASY
Moses could have been very rich in Egypt. But instead, he let people insult him. He chose to receive trouble because of God’s special Messiah. He thought that was worth more than if he had a lot of money. He thought carefully about what God would give him at a future time.

The scriptures describe the willingness of Moses to give up worldly status for something far greater—God’s eternal promise. Moses was raised as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, meaning he had access to immense wealth, power, and comfort. Yet, by faith, he chose to walk away from the privilege of royalty to identify with the people of God, even though it meant suffering. Moses’ decision was not based on immediate benefits but on his trust in God’s ultimate plan. This is a reminder for us that true faith is willing to sacrifice the temporary comforts of this world for the eternal reward that God has promised.

In our own lives, we are often faced with choices that test our faith. It could be the allure of success, wealth, or recognition, much like what Moses had in Egypt. We might be tempted to compromise our values or neglect our relationship with God for short-term gain.

But just as Moses understood that the pleasures of sin are fleeting, we too must realize that worldly success without God’s approval is empty. Moses chose the path of hardship, not because it was easy, but because he believed that suffering for God’s sake was more valuable than all the treasures of Egypt. This is a call for us to look beyond the present and live in light of eternity.

Practically, this may mean making decisions that others won’t understand. It could involve turning down a lucrative opportunity if it conflicts with your faith or choosing integrity over popularity. Just as Moses endured the insults and pain associated with following God’s plan, we too might face rejection, ridicule, or loss.

But like Moses, our eyes must be fixed on God’s reward—a future inheritance that far outweighs anything we could gain in this world. Our faith, like his, allows us to persevere through trials, trusting that the reward God promises is worth far more than any temporary gain.

Prayer and Confession
Pray for the strength to make decisions like Moses, choosing God’s will over worldly comfort. Ask for the faith to trust in God’s eternal reward, even when it means facing hardships or making sacrifices in the present. Pray for the courage to stand firm in your identity as a child of God, no matter the pressures or temptations around you.
