Understanding Divine Favour

Devotional Reading: For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield. — Psalm 5:12 MEV

Divine favor is God’s supernatural grace that brings us blessings we could not earn on our own. It’s the special kindness God shows to His children, often opening doors and creating opportunities beyond our natural abilities.

For example, imagine two equally qualified people applying for the same job. While they may both be competent, divine favor can cause the employer to choose one person over the other, even when they have similar qualifications. When God’s favor is at work, it sets His people apart and brings them blessings beyond human merit.

Receiving divine favor often involves aligning our hearts and actions with God’s will. When Joseph was in Egypt, his integrity and trust in God helped him find favor with Potiphar and, eventually, Pharaoh. Even in hardship, he remained faithful, and God’s favor elevated him. To walk in divine favor, we too need a faithful heart and a commitment to integrity, especially when no one is watching. This attracts God’s blessings and often catches the attention of others.

Pray for God’s guidance and ask Him to help you walk in obedience and humility, recognizing that every blessing you receive is a result of His favor. Trust that even if your situation seems challenging now, God’s favor is working behind the scenes to bring you blessings in unexpected ways.

Prayer and Confession
Today, I declare that God’s favor surrounds me like a shield. I am blessed and highly favored, and I trust that His hand is upon my life, opening doors that no one can shut. I walk in His goodness and receive His blessings with gratitude.
