God is Delighted in You

Devotional Reading: Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 ESV

Know this as you go into the next year, that God delights in His own. See, when the LORD bestows His unfailing kindness on you, do not expect the World to be kind to you. That is what I have learnt and I am learning it still. The more you stay innocent and enthusiastic in the Word of God, the more you will be vulnerable to all the evil that awaits to devour you. So should you fear? Sometimes it is only natural to fear.

You may get intimidated in the rollercoaster rides of life’s journeys, turbulent waves on a sail is expected, and sometimes even the thin line of sanity might feel breaking. But will you stop your voyage? Will you give up on the story the LORD is writing through you? He didn’t start writing it one fine day because He felt like writing a story – He started it before Creation. Preciously picking each syllable, each word, and each emotion to befit His unfathomable mercy and grace that will overtake even your wildest dreams – because you are His intention.

This is a love too deep to be measured, too wide to scale, too big to fathom and too intense to escape. His Eyes saw your heart. Our eyes need to try and seek His heart too. And if we can tune our heart to His, we take delight in the LORD. His desires become ours and it will be His zeal that will make us take our steps forward.

His zeal prophesied the birth of a Saviour, and His zeal alone accomplished it. (Isaiah 9: 7) Through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, His zeal makes it possible for you and me to partner with the Triune God. And do you think His zeal will not accomplish the work He started in you? The essence of the story is in understanding the heart of the Author – in faith.

There are times when we see nothing as we look to our future, but He still shows us the galaxies, asking us to count the stars. He is dreaming a great dream through us – through our faith, through the love that merges with His love and He wants us to boldly dream with Him. And when we boldly dream, it’s not going to be easy, but the Eye that see your heart will light your eye to see the unseen and He will be strong for you – because He delights in you.

Prayer and Confession
Thank you Jesus because it is your utmost will to delight in me. Lord help me to love you and delight in you more.
