Removing the Obstacles to Vision

Devotional Reading: The word of the Lord came to me: ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?’ ‘I see the branch of an almond tree,’ I replied. The Lord said to me, ‘You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.’ Jeremiah 1:11-12 (KJV)

Jeremiah’s ability to see clearly was a prerequisite for his calling. God often asks us, “What do you see?” because our perception determines our faith and action. Sometimes, however, obstacles like fear, doubt, or negative experiences cloud our vision and prevent us from seeing the future God has for us.

Think about the Israelites when they scouted the Promised Land (Numbers 13). Most of them saw giants and insurmountable challenges, while Caleb and Joshua saw opportunities. The difference wasn’t in what they looked at but how they perceived it. In our lives, we often focus on problems rather than the God who solves them. For example, a person seeking a new career might dwell on their lack of qualifications instead of trusting God for wisdom and guidance.

Ask yourself, what obstacles are blurring my vision? Is it fear of failure? A past disappointment? Or perhaps the opinions of others? It’s time to shift your focus. Spend time in God’s Word to realign your perspective. Like Jeremiah, allow God to guide your vision so you can see His promises clearly.

Pray for God to remove any obstacles to your vision. Lay your fears and doubts at His feet. Remember, God is watching over His Word to fulfill it. All He asks is that you see with faith and trust Him.

Prayer and Confession
I declare that every obstacle to my vision is removed in Jesus’ name. I will focus on God’s promises, not my problems, and see clearly the future He has for me. Amen!
