The Foundation for Wisdom
Devotional Reading: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7 KJV
Wisdom is the ability to see life from God’s perspective and apply His truth in practical ways. From our opening text, the starting point of wisdom is not intellect or experience, but a deep reverence for God. Without this foundational respect for God, wisdom becomes distorted and incomplete. When we choose to place God at the center of our decision-making, our lives are anchored in truth and purpose.
In practical terms, this means seeking God’s guidance before making decisions. Whether you’re contemplating a career move, a relationship, or a financial investment, taking time to pray and reflect on God’s will aligns your heart with His. Just like building a house requires a solid foundation, every life decision must be rooted in the wisdom of God, as it keeps us from falling into the traps of worldly wisdom.
Think of a tree with deep roots in the ground. A tree without deep roots is easily uprooted in storms. Similarly, when we build our lives on God’s wisdom, we become resilient to life’s challenges. But when we lean on our own understanding, we may feel shaken when the storms of life come our way.
Commit today to seek God first in all areas of your life, and allow His wisdom to guide your every step. A practical way to begin this journey is by spending time daily in Scripture.
Prayer and Confession
Today, I declare that in every decisions I make God is involved in it. I do not lean on my understanding but on God’s wisdom. Amen!
