Jesus’ Prayer; Carrier of His Glory

Devotional Reading: “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one” John 17:22 NIV

Let us begin with a question to reflect on. Whenever (if) you pray for the glory of God upon your life, what exactly do you have in mind? Pause and reflect.

Take a good look at the words of Jesus, He never ask the Father to give them His glory, but rather he said, he has given it to them. This implies, God’s Glory is resident in them already. And by extension, to every believers. However, the individual’s understanding of the glory has a lot to do with its expression in us. Also, note that the glory is not anything related to materialism.

The glory we have is not just any glory but the same the Father and Christ have. The right question to ask at this point is: what is the glory we’ve got?

Below are few of the meaning or implications of the glory of God in us, we have the;
i. Holy Spirit: This is the spirit of God with which Christ was endowed. The same spirit raised him from the dead and lives permanently in us now. Rom. 6:4, 8:11
ii. Divine Nature/life of God 2Pet. 1:4
iii. Power to do miracles. John 2:11, 11:40
iv. The Word. The creative power of God. John 17:8.

The list is inexhaustible as it fills the pages of the scripture. But note, the glory is all things that belongs to God, the honor of being in union with him and never things of the world. If it is earthly, unbelievers have it also, but blessed be God, it is for believers only. Hence, your prayer should not be for glory as it were, but rather that your eyes of understanding be enlightened to utilize and maximize the glory given to you.

Prayer and Confession
I am a carrier of God’s glory, for the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in the quarters of my body. By the same spirit, I am a wonder to my world. Hallelujah
