YOUR WORDS ARE SEEDS, AND EVERY SEED HAS A HARVEST

Key Text: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7

There is something powerful about the way Scripture connects sowing with reaping: what you repeatedly put into the ground eventually produces something. Your words are not literal seeds, but they function like seeds because repeated words can shape your thoughts, expectations, decisions and eventually your actions. If you constantly sow words of defeat, suspicion and fear, you may begin making decisions from those beliefs, while consistently speaking God’s truth can strengthen courage, patience and faith. You cannot keep planting “Nothing will work” every morning and then become surprised when your heart starts behaving like it has already received a rejection letter from heaven.

Think about a farmer: he does not plant maize today and stand over the soil tomorrow shouting, “Where is my harvest?” He understands that there is a process between sowing and reaping. In the same way, when you speak God’s Word over your future, you may not immediately see physical evidence, but something is happening in your heart as you continue to believe and speak. Jesus said that words can produce consequences, and Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Your words are therefore not something to throw around carelessly; they are seeds you are constantly scattering into your heart, your relationships and your environment.

But here is the part we must understand clearly: faith confession is not a magic formula for controlling God. You cannot simply say something repeatedly and force God to do it, because God remains sovereign and His will is not manipulated by vocabulary. Biblical confession is agreeing with what God has revealed, trusting His character and allowing His Word to shape how you think, speak and act while you wait for His promises. So before you speak, ask yourself, “If these words became the atmosphere of my life, would I be happy with the harvest?”

Prayer and Confession
Father, teach me to sow wisely with my words. Let my mouth continually sow seeds of faith, wisdom, love, courage, gratitude and confidence in Your Word. I reject careless words that cultivate fear, bitterness, defeat and unbelief in my heart. Help me to speak what is true, wholesome and consistent with Your revealed Word, while trusting You completely with the harvest. May the words I speak today contribute to the future You are leading me into. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If the words I have spoken repeatedly over the past year became a harvest in my life, what kind of harvest would I be looking at?
