Wisdom Discerns Times and Seasons
Key Text: “A wise man’s heart discerns both time and judgment.” Ecclesiastes 8:5 (NKJV)
One remarkable quality of divine wisdom is knowing the right time to act. It is not enough to know what God wants you to do. Wisdom also teaches you when to do it. The sons of Issachar stood out because they understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do. A person with wisdom does not simply chase opportunities but recognises God’s timing for every opportunity.
Many people have good ideas but poor timing. Speaking the right words at the wrong time can create unnecessary problems, just as planting maize during the dry season will only produce disappointment. Queen Esther understood this truth when she delayed her request and waited for the right moment before speaking to the king. Even your alarm clock knows there is a difference between six in the morning and six in the evening, so wisdom refuses to confuse timing.
Walking in wisdom means learning to cooperate with God’s timetable instead of rushing ahead or dragging behind. Joseph did not become Prime Minister the day he received his dreams because God was preparing both the man and the moment. When the appointed time arrived, everything changed in a single day. Divine wisdom gives you the patience to prepare faithfully until God says, “Now is the time.”
Prayer and Confession
Father, grant me the wisdom to recognise the times and seasons You have ordained for my life. Deliver me from impatience, haste, and unnecessary delays caused by my own understanding. I declare that I will move in step with Your timing and will not miss the opportunities You have prepared for me. My life is ordered by Your wisdom, and every season will produce its appointed harvest in Jesus’ name. Amen.
