Gratitude and Faith; Two sides of the same coin.
1 Chronicles 16:8, 12 NLT
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given,
Someone wrote “Faith must involve something more than belief in the miracle-working power of God. It also involves the recognition that his mercies are undeserved, which means that gratitude is an essential concomitant of faith.”
We must understand that faith is rooted in the celebration of the goodness of God. One of the biggest mistakes of the Israelites in the Old Testament was how they constantly forgot how the Lord had moved on their behalf. In Exodus 16, we see that the Israelites had just been set free from captivity in Egypt yet they were murmuring! Complaining and murmuring destroys faith. Celebrating and remembering the goodness of God fuels faith.
So, remember His prophecies spoken over your life! Take hold of the promises of God over your life and declare them until they come to pass. Prophetic words and promises from the Lord are never intended to be sat on a shelf. War with the words! Paul told Timothy in keeping with the prophecies spoken over him to use those prophecies as weapons as he wage spiritual warfare by faith and with a clean conscience (1Tim.1:18-19). So pray those promises. The plot of the enemy is to make you forget how the Lord made a way for you in the past and what the Lord has promised you for your future. Hence, Maintain a thankful heart, remember how He made a way, and declare His word over your future. Watch and see as faith grows in your life!
