Understanding Our Authority in Christ

Devotional Reading: Ephesians 2:6 KJV
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ.

As believers, we are called to recognize the authority given to us through Christ. In Ephesians, scriptures tells us that Christ is seated at the right hand of God, far above all rule and authority, and that we, His followers, share in that same power.

This means that as Christians, we are not powerless in the face of life’s challenges. Our authority is rooted in the finished work of Christ on the cross and His victory over sin and death. When we grasp this truth, we are empowered to act with confidence and purpose in the spiritual battles we face daily.

A practical modern example of this authority can be seen in how we handle fear and anxiety. In today’s fast-paced world, many people struggle with anxiety about their careers, finances, or health. As believers, we can take authority over these fears by declaring God’s promises over our lives.

Instead of allowing worry to control us, we can pray with authority, speaking peace and calm over our minds. For example, rather than succumbing to anxiety over a major decision, a believer might pray, trusting God to guide them, knowing He has given them the ability to discern His will.

Reflect on areas of your life where you may have been living as if you are powerless. Today, remind yourself that you have authority through Christ. Speak life into those situations—whether it’s healing, provision, or peace—and believe that God has equipped you with everything you need to overcome.
