Zealous for God

Romans 12:11 NIV
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Our text today encourages us never to be lacking in zeal as we serve the Lord. Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior deserves the best from us as we serve Him because He himself went all the way in service giving His all to ensuring that we become forever united with the Father. He rescued us from the dominion of darkness by conquering sin and death. He bridged the gap (created by us through sin) between God and humanity and now you are forever accepted with God because of all He did through His death and resurrection.
Nobody had the power to kill Him, He actually gave Himself up to die, all for the love of you and I. The truth is, Jesus might have given up at a point and not eventually die for our sins. His Gethsemane experience according to Matthew 26:36-38 revealed this, but He didn’t give up. This should shoot adrenaline into your soul for service unto the Lord.
Beloved, have you been lagging in your zeal in service to the Lord? Are you discouraged, tired and the best way you would by now be described is “a man that lacks zeal”? Don’t lag in your zeal for the Lord. Let Jesus our master be your motivation. Pick up yourself, let the Lord’s sacrifice for humanity be your source of motivation for service.
Never be found lacking in zeal for the Lord. According to Hebrews 12:2, Fix your eyes on Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the joy of set that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and now is seated at the right hand of God.
CONFESSION
I am not lacking in zeal,
I serve the Lord with zeal,
His sacrifice is my motivation,
Jesus is my motivation.
