We Are Saved from the Wrath

1Thessalonians 1:10

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Believers are never to be ignorant of certain things pertaining to our new life in Christ Jesus, such as our positional stand with him. We are chosen of God, royal priesthood, seated with Christ in heavenly places, a new creature etc (2Cor 5:17, 1Pet 2:9). Much more we are saved from the wrath to come just as Paul said.

Paul speaks of his joy  about the people of Thessalonica at how they were looking forward to the coming of Christ. These are set of Christians who had receive the gospel and lived by the power of God’s spirit (vs 7-9). However, many who tend to live as legalist are only trying to do for themselves what only Christ the author of our new life could do in them. “Being confident of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Phil 1:6, also Phil 2:13. The understanding of the Thessalonians gladdens Paul’ heart. (Read John 3:17&18).

Make no mistake; character is a supreme issue with God. But His approach is much different than ours. His righteousness is not built into us by our own efforts. It’s developed when we learn to abandon ourselves completely to His will.

CONFESSION

I am not appointed unto wrath
I stand justified and not condemned
Christ paid the price for me.
Hallelujah!
