I’m God’s Righteousness in Christ

2 Corinthians 5:21 TPT

For God made the only one who did not know sin to become sin for us, so that we who did not know righteousness might become the righteousness of God through our union with him.

Righteousness can sometimes get buried in the collection of church words we throw around, so I’d like to make an attempt to clear the air about what it means to be righteous. Our understanding of righteousness gives us the freedom and liberty to live the life God has promised us in Christ.

Righteousness is simply the ability to stand before God without any sense of guilt or inferiority. Another way to put this is simply saying righteousness is a gift God offers us freely in Christ in other for us to stand with confidence before God free and unashamed.

So when God says you are righteous, He is simply saying ‘I am looking beyond you and your faults and I’m seeing one clothed with my righteousness by Christ.’

When we then say “I’m the righteousness of God in Christ.” We are saying I affirm my identity, nature above condemnation, guilt and any form of inferiority. We are saying, in spite of what I see in myself or what others see in me, I share the righteous nature of God as a gift of His grace in Christ.

As condemnation tries to dig its claws into your mind, think this one thought-Christ became the culprit of all my sin from the least to the greatest. Making Himself liable to restore me and all those injured in His love . So that in Him, we are Gods own righteousness on display for the world to see. What a glorious thought! There is no god like the God of Israel our Lord. He is truly the Master of Forgivness.

Hence, do not hesitate to say this to yourself especially when you are dealing with the fiery darts of condemnation from the enemy because your confession is a way to put up your shield of faith. I’M RIGHTEOUS.
