A Wicked Ambassador?

One of the numerous stories I cannot forget being told while I was much younger was that of Jonah in the belly of the fish. It’s a fascinating story of how a grown up man would be swallowed by a fish. Whether or not I got the reason for such experience then, I really cannot say.

At the time of Jonah (just like every other Old Testament time), there were people regarded as the righteous; those who abide by the laws of God and who feared Him. Also, those who are considered wicked; those who oppose the laws of God and never feared Him in anyway. Jonah was sent to the latter category of people by God to warn them of their wickedness and turn to Him else they will be destroyed. However, it’s so pathetic that Jonah refused to be a mouthpiece for the Lord and was ready to die instead. At this juncture, you may want to ask “what then was his task if not warning people of impending danger if they refuse the law of the Lord?”

Don’t be too quick to judge him. Just like Jonah, we all have been given the ministry of reconciliation, but have you not written off some persons not to be worthy of salvation provided by the precious blood of Jesus Christ? His excuse was based on wanting to keep his integrity at the expense of souls that were dying (Jon. 4:1-3).

Imagine the wicked fellow on planet earth, such person still deserves to hear the gospel of Christ. As you go henceforth, do whatever it will cost you to preach the gospel to people far and near you. Leave aside sentiment, no reason is justifiable enough for your silence. Preach the gospel and stop being a “wicked” ambassador.
