Faith-Life; Praying for Leaders

Devotional Reading: “Pray in this way for kings and all others who are in authority over us, or are in places of high responsibility, so that we can live in peace and quietness, spending our time in godly living and thinking much about the Lord.” 1 Timothy 2:2 TLB
Every establishment or organization has its code of conduct, guiding principles or better still, its constitution guiding their practices. So also, every believer in Christ are led by the spirit of God in accordance to the written word of God; the bible. And the life we live is the life of faith. Can I quickly bring to your remembrance that the bible is the sole authority upon which our beliefs and practices are built upon?
Bible instructs us as believers to pray for all those who are in authority over us. Funny enough, the instruction did not give the opportunity to select who among them to pray for or not. Also, the very essence of the prayer is clearly stated, to enable us live in peace and quietness, spending our time in godly living and thinking much about the Lord.
Taking Nigeria as a case study, God expects you as a child of God to pray for our leaders. Myself being a Nigerian, I understand it is not an instruction that could be easily carried out especially when we look into the evils being perpetrated by our leaders at various levels of government. But, for as many of us who are led by the Spirit of God, the Spirit of God empowers and strengthen us to do that which He requires of us. I know it seems to the carnal mind that prayers are being unanswered, but imagine if we aren’t praying at all, what would have been the case?
You will be anti-faith whenever you do contrary to God’s instruction at any point in time and on any issue revealed in God’s word. It takes a man of faith never to engage in imprecatory prayer in our nation, especially for the political leaders in a time like this. Do the word, pray for your leaders and hope for the best.
Prayer and Confession
I am a man of the spirit; I live in the spirit and I obey the scriptures. I pray for our leaders at all levels of government that their hearts are turned unto the Lord in Jesus name. Amen
