The Cross – More than just Wood
Devotional Reading: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)
When we look at the cross of Jesus Christ, it’s easy to see it just as a tragic end to a good man’s life. But the cross was no accident—it was the very heart of God’s plan to save us. Jesus didn’t get caught in a political trap or a religious plot. He willingly chose the cross, knowing He would take on the full weight of our sins. What looked like weakness was actually the power of God working to redeem humanity.
The cross shows us how deeply God loves us. It wasn’t about punishment—it was about restoration. Jesus wasn’t just dying for humanity in general; He died for you—personally. That makes the cross more than a symbol. It becomes a message straight to your heart: “You are loved, chosen, and worth dying for.”
This sacrifice means you don’t have to carry your guilt anymore. Your sin, shame, and fear were nailed to that cross. The love of God met justice there, and mercy won. No matter how broken you’ve been, the cross declares that you are not beyond hope. In Christ, you are forgiven—completely and forever.
Prayer and Confession:
I believe Jesus died for me. My sins are forgiven, my past is erased, and I am deeply loved. Because of the cross, I am redeemed, restored, and made right with God. Amen.
