God is Already Present
John 14:16
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever–
Someone once asked me, how do I keep the rhythm of fellowship with God in my work place or when I’m busy as I am when I’m alone or when I’m not doing anything? This question made me remember one of Brother Lawrence’s steps on practicing God’s presence, a all time classic devotional by him compiled around 17th century. One of the steps he stated is to recognize that God is already present.
Brother Lawrence writes; “All we have to do is recognize God as being intimately present within us. Then we may speak directly to Him everytime we need to ask for help, to know His will in moments of uncertainty, and to do whatever He wants us to do in a way that pleases Him. We should offer our work to Him before we begin and thank Him afterward for the privilege of having done it for His sake”.
This is really golden if we are to enjoy God at every moment even during our busy schedules. We must deliberately be conscious of God’s presence within us knowing we must occupy ourself with external things. The should always be an overflowing eagerness to turn our work into a service rendered to Him.
CONFESSION
I stay continually conscious of God’s presence within and around me.
I turn my daily work and routine as a service to God.
Amen!
