The New and Living Way

Hebrews 10:12,20

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

Jesus walked through a sorrowful part for our sake, He was willing to do that which God had sent Him to do. The writer of Hebrew viewed the path Jesus took as more than just a sorrowful path. The way of suffering that Jesus willingly walked to in Golgotha, made “a new and living way” into the presence of God for us (Heb.10:20).

From the Old Testament, the Jews had sought to come into God’s presence through animal sacrifices and by seeking to keep the Mosaic Law. But the Law was only a shadow of the good things that are coming, “for it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats take away sins..”

The Journey of Jesus led to His death but much more also to His resurrection. Because of this one only sacrifice, anyone who believes in Him is forgiven past, present and future. We can also come before Him without fear, fully confident that we are loved and welcomed.
